- A person who is obsessed with their own beliefs and ideals, and doesn’t like them to be hindered in any fashion whatsoever; unless it’s the law, then it’s okay… kind of… but not really… but we’ll still do what the government tells us to do. -ZoryRory
- Just a person. -AlienRamblings
- Someone who believes people have the right to live the life they want to live, and that the government cannot control our every move. -Anwynisbrownajah
- An American is someone who believes in greatness without necessarily having the strength or determination to do anything to achieve it. Sure, we've got the Olympians, authors, NASA, and such. But they have those labels. An American is just another label, just another identifier for the average Joe walking down Main street. And unfortunately for Joe, we've, we've stopped achieving. Now, we sit- & we wait for change. But we don't actually change anything. If we're lucky, maybe we change ourselves. -LitteC'sMind

What Is An American?
Here are the responses my Tumblr followers have provided:
Hey There!
Hey ya'll.
This is going to be my blog for my American Lit class this semester. The requirement is only 8 posts, but I'll likely post much more because I understand things best after I put them into words. We're basically supposed to just post our reactions to what we read, so this will go a bit beyond just literary analysis. I'll definitely be doing lit analysis, but I'll also be writing about likes and dislikes when it comes to the reading material and maybe even the class, a little bit.
A quick intro:
My name is Elizabeth and I'm a junior English major with Psychology and Education double minors. I want to teach high school English. I'm nerdy and love playing with words and grammar. I will read just about anything I can get my hands on and my passions outside of English-related things include psychology (duh), astronomy, and watching TV/Movies.
